Chameloene who was just recently unveiled by the Democratic Party and appointed national mobilizer, abandoned the party and joined the NUP wagon, in which he sought to be given the Mayorship flag bearer status.

His argument was that the people of Kampala are tired of old leadership and he comes to breathe change into the Lord Mayor's office.

It is not clear whether Chameloene intends to proceed on the independent ticket or his race comes to an abrupt end.
